POLICE have charged a man with repeatedly flouting strict COVID-19 restrictions put in place to slow the spread of the virus.
It’s also alleged the man was acting aggressively and refused to take part in a breath test in the Tweed.
Tweed-Byron Police officers attended Florence St at 6.20 after they received reports a man had arrived in a car and was acting aggressively, NSW Police said in a statement.
The driver allegedly tested positive to a roadside breath test before he was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station for a follow up breath analysis.
Police said the man had already been issued with a $1000 penalty infringement notice last Tuesday for failing to comply with a ministerial direction.
On Wednesday, the man was charged with not complying with a noticed direction, relating to the ministerial direction to only travel for essential reasons.
He was also charged with refusing a breath analysis, breaching bail, driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered vehicle.
The man was due to appear in Lismore Local Court today.
