TWO more cases of the new coronavirus have been recorded in Queensland, taking the numbers in the state to 20.

A 32-year-old woman and 31-year-old man from the Gold Coast are both in isolation in hospital after testing positive to COVID-19.

The woman had recently returned from the US and had close contact with the man.

Meanwhile, Southern Cross University will reopen both its Gold Coast and Lismore campuses on Thursday, a day after closing both centres following the positive coronavirus test for a staffer visiting from the Philippines.

Almost 50 staff and students at the university who came into contact with the man will be placed in isolation for 14 days.

Southern Cross spokesman Dean Gould said 16 of the 47 people identified at risk had been involved in “frequent interactions” during the man’s stay and they would be encouraged to get testing from health authorities if they developed any symptoms associated with the virus.
