GOLD COAST GPS’ CORONAVIRUS WARNING

In a statement this morning hotel group Accor said the man had been a resident at the Oracle but not a guest at Peppers Broadbeach, which is located in the building,

“Queensland Health today confirmed that a resident in the Oracle Building has the Novel Coronavirus,” the statement said.

“The person in question was not a guest at the hotel and was a private resident in the Oracle Building.

“We have been closely monitoring the situation and have implemented additional hygiene procedures, including cleaning and disinfection as outlined by the authorities.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and colleagues is our highest priority and we are following the advice of the Australian Government’s Department of Health to further limit any risk.”

Residents of Peppers Broadbeach told the Bulletin they had not been notified of the incident.

A man whose elderly father is staying at Peppers said he was concerned about the lack of information given to guests about the incident.

“There have been mixed stories about what happened when the man was taken by the ambulance,” he told the Bulletin.

“My father has been travelling up and down in the lifts all week, they were told nothing official at all.

“This is really serious, he should have been given some warning before now.”

Queensland Health will be addressing the government response to the ongoing outbreak at 11am today.
