THE escalating coronavirus pandemic is about to cause a significant change to the Gold Coast’s Hopo ferry service.
Mayor Tom Tate told the Bulletin this evening that the ferry service would be suspended after tonight.
Cr Tate said the ferry was a non-essential service and would be halted indefinitely.
“This is being done out of an abundance of caution,” he said.
“Ferries are nice to have but TransLink is a must-have.
“This is an extraordinary time and we need to allow all resources put towards operating essential services such as buses and light rail.”
