THE Comancheros associate charged over the alleged bashing of a Gold Coast bus driver has fronted court this morning allegedly found with counterfeit money at Broadbeach at the weekend.

Police allege Liam Scorsese, 29, was gambling at Jupiters Casino on Saturday evening when he tried to pay for some drinks with a fake $50 note.

He was later charged with possession of counterfeit money after allegedly being found with a total of 13 counterfeit notes in his pocket.

He told police he was not aware the notes were counterfeit.

In court this morning his lawyer Ashkan Tai, of Karsas Tai Lawyers, applied for bail on the basis the man was already on bail for the other offences.

He was granted bail by magistrate Catherine Pirie with a reporting and residential condition.

Scorsese was allegedly involved in the assault of a bus driver in Surfers Paradise on August 21.

Police allege the driver was approached by two men who’d parked their car illegally in a bus zone.

It is alleged the two men punched the driver in the face.

The driver attempted to phone police and the men allegedly entered the bus, dragged him off and kicked and punched him.

Scorsese will return to court on September 27.
