Things didn’t quite go to plan for a would-be thief who tried to rob a woman of her luxury handbag in Broadbeach.
Police are appealing for the public’s help after a 53-year-old woman was approached by a man while crossing a bridge on Hooker Boulevard towards the Broadbeach south tram stop.
The man came up to the woman from behind and grabbed her luxury handbag, attempting to pull it from her about 5.25pm on June 26.
When the woman didn’t let go, the man lost his balance and fell over the guard-rail onto the roadway.
The failed bag snatcher fled the scene empty handed, heading northbound on the Gold Coast Highway.
The woman was not injured.
Police are appealing to anyone with information – or who may have witnessed or captured dash-camera footage of the offence – to come forward.
They also to speak to the man pictured above as he may be able to help police with the investigation.
Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.
