A GOLD Coast institution is getting a makeover after three decades-plus of big nights on the dancefloor.
The Atrium Bar at The Star Gold Coast, which originally opened as a piano bar in 1986, will close in mid-July with the new-look Atrium Bar to open in a new location within the property at the end of August.
The bright, bold design complete with comfy lounge booths, a dancefloor and mirror ball, can be revealed by the Bulletin.
The Star Gold Coast Chief Operating Officer Jess Mellor said it was a new chapter for the long-running venue, which had sparked the beginning of countless love stories, relationships and marriages.
“The Atrium Bar has been much-loved. People are always sharing their stories about meeting their husband or wife there, or times their dinner ‘kicked on’ and they woke up with sore feet, but a big smile on their face.
“I promise all those loyal revellers that the new Atrium Bar will deliver the same warm welcome and lively, care-free party vibes they remember.”
The new Atrium Bar will be a live music venue with DJs Thursday to Sunday playing top 100 tunes, classic anthems and dancefloor mashups. It will reopen late August, 4pm to late.
