A distraught single mum has described the horror of having her “beautiful” caravan stolen while she was just metres away.
Jacinta Rogers was inside her Carrara home at 7.40pm Thursday when her Jayco Pop Top was stolen from out the front by a man driving what appeared to be a silver Subaru Forrester.
Ms Rogers is certain the thief scoped out her home beforehand to carry out the swift operation.
“I’m not sure if he used bolt cutters. But he popped (the caravan) on the back of his car and off he went,” she said.
“The time it was taken, I was not even 10m away from where he parked.”
The theft has devastated the single mum of two young girls. She uses the caravan to take her daughters on weekend adventures around Queensland.
The Jayco Pop Top was not insured and had valuables inside, including fishing rods, camping equipment, life jackets and linen.
“I put all my money into this van to make the best memories I could for the little ones,” Ms Rogers said.
“It’s horrific, I feel violated. To know that someone was so close to our home with bad intent doesn’t feel good either.”
The theft has been reported to police.
