It’s Supercars meets golf meets the Gold Coast – and it is wild.

A new Supercheap Auto TV ad stars a bevy of motorsport, stunt driving and music identities in an elaborate “Hollywood” style short film at a collapsed Gold Coast country club.

The four-minute advertisement, Country Club Chaos, was shot over four days at the ex-Arundel Hills Country Club site in November.

Supercar drivers including veteran Russell Ingall, Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert make cameo appearances.

They were joined by Gold Coast motor racing and motocross identities including Queensland racing legend and Bathurst champion Paul Morris, freestyle Motocross rider Harry Bink, who landed the world’s first triple frontflip and Hot Wheels stuntman Matt Mingay.

International DJs Carl Cox and Bombs Away make cameos.

Described as a short film, it features five cheeky valets racing, drifting and skidding high-performance cars around a golf course at the fictitious Redline Country Club.

Supercheap Auto managing director Benjamin Ward described it as “action-packed with stars and stunts”.

Mr Morris said despite five hours in front of the camera for his brief cameo as a country club golfer, he “stuck around on set because the driving action was so entertaining”.

“It’s the first Supercheap ad I haven’t actually driven in. They are doing bigger and better things each time,” Mr Morris said.

“The amazing thing about this one is all the cameo appearances. It’s got a great storyline and the more you watch the more you see.”

Mr Morris said most of the sequences were completed in one take because the stunt drivers were “used to being so precise”.

“Supercheap is a cutting-edge brand. You’d expect the likes of Red Bull to be doing ads like this but given how big our motorsport culture in Australia is, you can see why the ads are so popular. Going to Supercheap Auto is the driving equivalent of going to Bunnings.”

Last year, Arundel residents slammed Supercheap Auto’s decision to film the ad at the site due to the area being an important wildlife corridor for kangaroos and koalas.

“It’s a unfortunate turn of events for people living in the near vicinity,” a nearby resident said.

“How can they guarantee no animals will be harmed?” another asked.

At the time, a Supercheap Auto spokesman said it would work with Gold Coast-based Wild Encounters on a wildlife management strategy.

A fauna spotter catcher was to be present during filming to protect the local kangaroo and koala populations.

The once prestigious country club collapsed in May last year with debts of up to $5.73m.
