A Burleigh Heads cafe owner has announced he is opening a new venue at one of the Gold Coast’s most highly anticipated shopping precincts.
Seadog cafe owner Brodie Green recently announced he would be opening a new cafe called Buoy at the Oxley, a new shopping complex coming to Nobby Beach.
Gourmet Meats, a juice bar, a grocer and a gelato shop were among others set to be calling The Oxley home.
Mr Green said he fell in love with The Oxley development plans and created Buoy with the Nobby Beach lifestyle in mind.
“From the moment I saw the renders from Daniel (Veitch) and his team, I was hooked,” he said.
“I haven’t seen anything on this level before on the Gold Coast and I knew we wanted to be involved.
“The Oxley is strongly aligned with our vision for what we want to deliver for the Gold Coast and is paving the way for the Gold Coast hospitality scene.”
Mr Green said he designed Buoy as “an ode” to Seadog which was first opened out of a vacant Suncorp ATM space in Burleigh Heads six years ago.
“The inspiration behind the brand is bringing back more ‘farm to plate’ on the Gold Coast breakfast scene,” he said.
“I believe Instagram has made breakfasts too complicated.
“We’re dialling it back to basics and we’re focusing more on slinging the best coffees and fostering a sense of community.”
Mr Green said Buoy would source all of their ingredients and produce from local farms.
“We’re conscious of our farmers across the southern Gold Coast who have experienced severe weather over the past two years,” he said.
“This is where we will be buying our organic eggs, honey and produce.”
Buoy feature a range of quality coffee and teas, through to decadent French pasties and traditional breakfast favourites.
Hospitality boss Scott Imlach recently opened up about how the light rail construction was heavily impacting trade in the Nobby Beach cove.
Mr Green said despite light rail work, they were excited to see how it ends up.
“We’re really looking forward to The Oxley bringing a breath of fresh air to Nobby Beach,” he said.
“We believe in the old saying ‘a rising tide lifts all boats’.”
Mr Green said they were expecting to be opening their doors at the end of November.
“I think I speak for everyone working on The Oxley when I say we’re all extremely excited.”
