Hot and humid weather is forecast for the rest of the week as Gold Coasters recover from a wet and wild weekend.
On the weekend storms, large hailstones, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding smashed parts of Southeast Queensland including; Ipswich, Logan, Brisbane City, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Redland City, Moreton Bay, Somerset and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning at 1.55pm on Sunday afternoon.
A deep low pressure trough across Queensland brought warm conditions which are predicted to be met with showers and storms.
Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said the Coast can expect showers and stormy conditions for the most part of Monday with conditions improving moving into the rest of the week. “The middle part of the week we’re expecting drier and mostly sunny conditions,” Ms Bradbury said.
“Generally speaking, temperature wise we’ll see very little change across the next week sitting at the very high 20s to very low 30s – a very narrow bracket for those temperatures and unfortunately remaining muggy across those days as well.”
