A former world-rated light welterweight boxer has opened his own recovery centre in the heart of Burleigh Heads.
Professional boxer Darragh Foley opened Fice Recovery 250 metres from the beach at Burleigh Heads.
Mr Foley opened the recovery centre two months ago and locals and athletes alike have said it was “amazing”.
The centre features traditional barrel saunas, cold plunges, relaxing bean bags and more.
“I’m getting towards the end of my boxing career so I wanted to set something up to transition into post fighting,” Mr Foley said.
“I’ve been using these recovery methods all my career so I’m not selling a lie. This stuff really works and I can’t wait to share with everyone.”
Mr Foley said he started realising he needed a routine recovery process when he began boxing at 16-years-old.
“The recovery process is imperative, for the body and the mind,” he said.
Mr Foley said the centre was different to sports recovery centre Rigs Recovery and lifestyle centre Soak Bathhouse.
“We are unique as we are completely outdoors,” he said.
“Rain, hail or shine, we’re open.”
Gold Coaster influencer @daisy — downunder shared a review of her time at the newly-opened centre.
“They have done such an amazing job of creating a real sanctuary where you can really go and switch off in the middle of Burleigh,” she said.
“Recovery establishments are huge in Australia, especially on the Gold Coast where health and wellness is so big.
“I actually shocked myself at how easily I got into the ice plunges.”
