A LUXURY brewery is preparing to inject life back into a Glitter Strip despite frustrating COVID-19 restrictions.

Bob beers — a 12-hectolitre craft brewery and restaurant — is set to open on Elkhorn Ave, Surfers Paradise in October.

Melbourne cousins Karambir Khanijou, Dhi Vig and their beer geek friend Ryan Fullerton moved to the Coast in December with a mission to transform a former Louis Vuitton store into a“dream beer project”.

“We are excited to launch Bob beers, inspired by my family member Bob Uppal, and hopefully it becomes the first hatted brewery in Australia,” Mr Vig, who said.

“We planned to have it ready earlier this year but with hard COVID-19 restrictions and engineering problems, it’s taken a little longer to get it perfect.

“To start Surfers Paradise’s first brewery is great. There is a definite gap in the market here as the area looks tired and there aren’t many food options.

“We are glad we took the plunge mid-COVID and hopefully restrictions will ease a bit more so all Gold Coasters can enjoy it.”

The casual, fine-dining brewpub will have 16 taps with eight reserved for Bobs Beers (an acronym for Best-Of-Beers) and eight featuring guest beers from other independent brewers.

“On site, you will see us making four core beers and four seasonal limited releases, which all paying homage to the Coast,” said head brewer Ryan Fullerton.

“From the comfort of home during COVID-19, I have enjoyed creating all of the beer recipes from the ground up.

“I have done about 20 experimental batches to get the brews just right.”

The brewery, which sits behind a glass wall, has 12 and 24-hectolitre fermenters to develop unique double brews.

The indoor and outdoor area sits around 150 diners and features booths, a sleek bar and 180 hanging light growlers.

An exclusive function room downstairs has a separate bar and is home to whisky lockers — a hub for Gold Coasters to store their three-figure bottles of liquor.

A modern Spanish and Latin tapas menu, a revolving cocktail list and beer paddles with matching food will be available.

The team also plans to open a commercial brewery.
