Musical heavyweights Blondie, Alice Cooper and Placebo are coming to the Gold Coast to headline an “extraordinary” new festival.

Apex Entertainment head promoter Andrew McManus said they were bringing a “fantastic” show called Pandemonium to the Coast on April 27 at Doug Jennings Park.

Along with New York legends Blondie, shock rocker Alice Cooper and British act Placebo, the festival line-up will include Deep Purple, Wolfmother, Wheatus, Psychedelic Furs, Dead Kennedys, Gang of Four, Palaye Royale, Cosmic Psychos, Gyroscope and Petch.

The Gold Coast will be the second last stop for their Australian tour, finishing at Bribie Island on April 28.

Blondie’s last show on the tour will be at the Gold Coast.

Mr McManus said acts like Alice Cooper would be putting in “the whole full nine yards” for the blockbuster tour.

Alice Cooper and Placebo will be making the trip back to the Gold Coast after almost 23 years.

While Blondie, fronted by Debbie Harry and responsible for such hits as Heart of Glass and One Way Or Another, were last on the Gold Coast in 2005 during their fifth Australian tour.

“You (Australia) have been a wild and wonderful audience for us and I personally look forward to seeing longtime old friends and possibly even recording something new inspired by this visit,” Ms Harry said.

“Some of you remember us playing in smaller venues on our very first trip to Australia and we travelled far and wide on an old bus.

“Seeing the country from that old bus was so beautiful.”

Ms Harry said they were looking forward to “wave riding, cocktails and seafood dinners” while on the Gold Coast.

“What could be better,” she said.

Blondie’s drummer Clem Burke said he was excited to visit the “great beaches” on the Gold Coast.

“We are really looking forward to returning to Australia, it is long overdue,” he said.

“The band has so many fond memories of our early successes down under and we are very excited about performing for all our Australian fans once again.”

Pre-sale tickets are available from January 22 and general public tickets will go on sale from 9am on January 30.

General admission tickets can be snapped up $250 and VIP tickets are $600.

Brendan B Brown, frontman for Wheatus who gave us 2000s monster hit Teenage Dirtbag, said he was absolutely “bursting” to get back here.

“It’s been more than a decade and we have such a history there, as ‘Straya was the first place Dirtbag was a hit,” he said.

“Also, the best sleep I ever had was in a hotel on a Gold Coast beach. Unforgettable.”

Mr McManus said they had hired out the Yot Club to be their ferry service to and from the festival, costing festival goers $20 a ticket.

The VIP ticket includes a ferry ticket from Mariners Cove and access to the VIP marque – which has separate toilets, bars and food trucks.

Mr McManus said $10 of every ticket purchased will go towards the The Top Blokes Foundation to raise funds for suicide prevention in memory of Logan Steinwede.

Logan was the son of Karina Foran who is married to Titans NRL star Kieran Foran.

He took his life while staying with his grandparents in November last year.

“I read in the Bulletin on a Saturday morning about how Kieran wanted to do something to remember him,” Mr McManus said.

“I reached out to the family and they chose to support Top Blokes Foundation.”

With more than 20,000 people expected to attend the tour, Mr McManus will present a cheque of $200,000 to the foundation between Blondie’s and Alice Cooper’s performance.
