A team of the city’s leading medical experts are paving the way for a new era of medicine with a “longevity super-clinic” opening its doors in Southport next month.

The $20m Bespoke Medical centre promises to be the first of its kind in the state, focusing on increasing longevity through proactive and preventive medical care.

Set to open in phases, the practice will also provide specialist oncoplastic surgery and treatment through the Gold Coast Breast Centre.

The centre is the product of Her Medical founder Dr Donna Tanchev, cosmetic physician Dr Alexandra Curran, fertility specialist Dr Kee Jiet Ong, and his brother – and clinic mentor of the largest health-scan provider in Malaysia – Dr Kee Liang Ong.

Dr Tanchev said an ageing population meant medicine was shifting from “2.0” – medical science and treating or curing patients – to “medicine 3.0”, a proactive take on health and prevention.

“It’s the way the future of medicine is going, because the fact is screening and early detection for all diseases save lives and gives you better outcomes,” Dr Tanchev said.

“A lot of medicine has been reactive – waiting for someone to get osteoporosis before we treat them, or waiting for the heart attack before we do the preventive measures.

“Cardiovascular disease doesn’t start with a heart attack, it started two decades before.

“This is early detection and early screening of all patients – not just patients who are at high-risk, but everyone to minimise the risk of disease and keep people stronger for longer.”

The clinic will provide blood tests, full-body MRIs, genetic and gene testing, and nutritional panels.

The facility is part of a multistage layout that will later include an LA-inspired rooftop spa and a men’s health zone, set to open in 2025.

Dr Tanchev said the whole-day approach would include an appointment with a doctor at the end of the day to go through results and draw up a plan to move forward.

Co-founder Dr Curran said the aesthetic side of the clinic would provide an extensive list of treatments with a strong focus on non-invasive treatment types.

“Aesthetics is an add-on from the longevity side of Bespoke – we wanted a results-driven clinic,” Dr Curran said.

“I have searched everywhere for the past year trying to find the best devices, which we’ve spent close to $1m on.”

The clinic will provide an array of laser technology to target scarring and other skin concerns such as pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

“We offer facial analysis where we look at the condition of your skin, the degree of sun damage, volume loss and we treat it accordingly and come up with a full treatment plan – it’s not just a one-stop shop,” Dr Curran said.

Microneedling and platelet-rich plasma treatments – also known as ‘the vampire facial’ – will also be available.

The clinic will work closely with The Breast Centre, offering services for breast aesthetics and medical concerns such as breast cancer.

Gold Coast Breast Centre founder Dr Maree Kekeff said it was a dream of hers and that she completed specialist training for this reason.

“We do all things breast car – breast cancer patients to cosmetic practices, and as a female I feel I can empathise with a lot of these women,” she said.

“It was about creating a soft and inviting space for the patients and for them to feel at ease.”
