JUST when you thought your Monday morning commute was bad enough, Gold Coasters had to add an extra hour to their travel time on the M1.

Northbound lanes were backed up 20km from Yatala to Oxenford after a truck lost its load of beer bottles around 4.30am between Exits 41 and 38 at Yatala.

Four hours later, the city’s main artery was still gridlocked.

As of 10am this morning congestion continues in the northbound lanes of the M1 through Ormeau.

It has since cleared with only a few kilometres of bumper-to-bumper conditions remaining.

Drive safely!
