Bachelor in Paradise: Jake Ellis to star on reality TV dating show for a third time

GOLD Coast’s unlucky in love Jake Ellis is hoping it will be third time lucky with his latest foray on reality TV dating.
The sales representative, 33, will star on the third season of Bachelor in Paradise Australia.
Asked why he was going back to look for love on-screen for a third time, he said: “I’m sure a lot of people are asking the same question.
“Season one (of the Bachelor in Paradise) was one of the best experiences of my life and I did very much find love. So I know the system does work,” he said.
“It was such an amazing experience and when they asked me to be part of it obviously I was single and it was an opportunity to explore (love) again.
“It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’d like to say it’s a once in a lifetime adventure but I can’t really say that considering I’ve done it three times.”
Mr Ellis made his TV debut on The Bacherlotte’s season two in 2016, trying to win the heart of Melbourne journalist Georgie Love.
After an unsuccessful attempt, he was invited to star in the first season of Bachelor in Paradise. It brings back single contestants from past seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, aiming to make a match on a remote island.
Mr Ellis fell in love with Megan Marx during the 2018 season. But after eight months together the pair split, with Mr Ellis taking to Instagram to say the break-up had been “destroying” and they were “devastated”.
The born-and-bred Gold Coaster said despite a number of long-term relationships on and off air, he still hadn’t managed to find his soulmate.

“I’m very picky,” he admitted. “Being a part of The Bachelorette and the Bachelor in Paradise, you do learn a lot about yourself and it amplifies very quickly what you do and don’t want.
“For me I wanted someone who is my best friend and a partner and who really has their head screwed on.”
Despite now being a reality TV dating veteran, he said he was still not used to the online backlash.
“Of course words still hurt. Not everyone will like you or be a fan, I think that’s just normal human behaviour,” Mr Ellis said.
“I’m used to it a bit more but I do still take things to heart. At the end of the day everyone will have opinions but it doesn’t affect what I want in life.”
Bachelor in Paradise premiers on July 15 on Network Ten.
