Baby-faced hoon Corey-James Walker pleads guilty in Southport Magistrates Court

A 22-year-old lost more than his driver’s license and wheels when he faced court for doing a burnout and evading police.

A baby-faced hoon who did a burnout before evading police was slapped with $7000 in fines, and lost his wheels and driver’s licence.

A police helicopter was conducting surveillance of a hoon meet in Alloy Pl, Yatala on February 11 when Corey-James Walker, 22, did a burnout in a car for more than a minute.

Polair continued to monitor Walker’s vehicle as it left the scene in a convoy of cars toward the Pacific Motorway, Yatala, Southport Magistrates Court was told on Tuesday.

Highway patrol police were alerted to Walker’s car and activated lights and sirens in an attempt to pull him over.

Walker sped away, but Polair continued to track him as he drove through Beenleigh.

The 22-year-old eventually stopped in Mount Warren Park, where he was arrested.

Walker pleaded guilty to one charge each of evasion and wilfully making unnecessary noise or smoke.

The evasion charge attracted a minimum fine of $6892 or 50 days in prison and a mandatory two-year disqualification from driving.

Walker wrote a letter to the court saying he was embarrassed and ashamed about his actions.

His mother wiped away tears and sat beside Walker’s pregnant partner as the 22-year-old stood before Magistrate Dzenita Balic.

He was fined $427 for the burnout, $6892 for the evasion, disqualified from driving for two years and had his car forfeited to police.

No convictions were recorded.
