THEY are cute, cuddly and part of an unexpected double litter of 17 puppies eagerly awaiting adoption from a Gold Coast shelter.
The AWLQ Gold Coast Rehoming Shelter is calling for families to adopt 10 kelpie mix and seven cattle dog cross staffy puppies, an unusually large amount on offer at one time.

AWLQ communications manager Brooke Whitney said the shelter was puppy-central after one of the mothers arrived at the shelter and within hours was giving birth.
“It took her a whole day and she had 10, which is incredible, the poor little thing,” she said.
“It’s pretty interesting; we usually have a couple of puppies but to have 17 in one go and we actually have more coming in the next few days and again next week.
“So it is sort of puppy and kitten central out here at the moment.”
The puppies, aged eight and 10 weeks, can be adopted for $450 which covers desexing, microchipping, vaccinations and worming.
Ms Whitney said each of the puppies had a unique personality but would suit any home that was loving.
“We have got some that are really rough and tumble and they are pulling ears and then you have got the laid-back ones that just want to snuggle and then you have got the ones that just like to eat,” she said.
“They will need regular walks but they are just going to be typical little dogs,” she said.
“So, just a family that loves them and is able to spend time training them to make sure that they grow up nicely and that they are not terrors.”
But before you fall for the cute value of these puppies, Ms Whitney reminds readers to make sure they can provide the right living requirements.
“We have had a lot of interest … but we just encourage people not to impulse-purchase the cute puppy because they will all find a great home. It’s just making sure that they go to the right home,” she said.
“Staffy crosses they are really good jumpers and they like to dig as well.”
