A couple visiting the Gold Coast have been left rattled and “violated” after a pair of brazen thieves made away with a haul of their most personal items, including underwear.

On Saturday night at around 9.45pm the couple raced out from Koala Park Laundromat in Burleigh Heads after they heard a loud car crash on the Gold Coast Highway.

“It was a huge crash exactly opposite of where we’re staying,” the male partner said.

“These two girls hit a light pole and spun around to the other side of the road, it was a massive crash and everyone from the community ran out to help – there was about 50 people there. It was really bad, I’m surprised they’re alive.”

Stunned from the crash the couple went back to their dwelling to discover later on all their belongings had been taken during their good Samaritan act.

“We thought maybe it was staff, but the owner accessed the security footage this week and found two people stealing it all from the dryer,” he said.

In the footage the alleged thieves, a male and female, can be seen watching their surroundings as they bag everything from the machines into yellow bin bags.

One-off pieces, samples, sentimental items from their world travels, bedding, underwear – all of the couple’s items were taken as the alleged thieves made away in a white car parked out front.

“There’s something so weird about someone taking your own personal clothes,” he said.

“It’s really weird, and it’s really violating.”

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman confirmed a single vehicle crash on the Gold Coast Highway in Burleigh Heads at 9.45pm. Two patients were assessed but denied transport to hospital.

The couple have pleaded to the Gold Coast community via Facebook for assistance identifying the alleged thieves and received multiple messages of help.

Commenters referred to the alleged thieves as “scum” and “absolute low lives”.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they do this for a living given how confident they were to do it even with cameras all around,” one person said.

“I really hope these shots identify these two. It’s absolute crap that people think they have some right to someone else’s belongings.”

A police report at Palm Beach station was attempted yesterday, however the station closes at 4pm.

The matter is in the process of being reported to police.
