A woman has been charged after she was escorted off a flight on the Gold Coast as passengers chanted ‘goodbye’.
The 42-year-old Lennox Head woman was taken by five police officers off a Jetstar flight on the Gold Coast on Sunday for alleged disorderly conduct.
An Australian Federal Police spokesperson said they were called to the aircraft when the woman refused to leave the Melbourne-bound flight.
They said she was originally asked to leave the plane due to her alleged level of intoxication.
AFP charged her with one count of behaving in an offensive or disorderly manner on an aircraft.
The maximum penalty for disorderly conduct on an aircraft is a $13,750 fine.
She is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on March 20.
A passenger shared a video to her TikTok account @Izym73 which showed the course of events, captioned “when there is a drunk Karen on board”.
The owner of the account said the plane had been delayed by an hour.
“Five cops,” one passenger said in the background.
“We could have all done it for free,” another one replied.
As the police lifted her off her seat a passenger jokingly said, “come on mum, get off”.
While exiting the plane, several passengers can be heard chanting “goodbye”.
