A man has been hospitalised after a group of men allegedly broke into his Gold Coast home overnight and assaulted him.

A man has been hospitalised after a group of men allegedly broke into his Gold Coast home overnight and assaulted him.
Gold Coast police were called to the Varsity Lakes home on Regensberg Close around 8.15pm on Monday after the disturbance.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said four men had allegedly broke into the home before a fight broke out between them and a man who was living in the residence.
During the fight, a 36-year-old man sustained serious wounds to his head and hand.
The police spokesman said the four men allegedly fled the scene in a car before officers arrived.
Paramedics assessed the 36-year-old home occupant and took him to Gold Coast University Hospital with significant head and hand lacerations, and an arm injury.
Another woman was also taken to hospital for observation after suffering from shock-related symptoms.
Police are urging anyone with information or relevant CCTV to call 131 444.
