A WHO’S-who of glitzed and glammed Gold Coasters raised more than $300,000 for local charities at the Gold Coast Mayoress Charity Foundation Ball on Saturday night.
During the event’s trademark auction Sunland developer Soheil Abedian and HomeCorp’s Ron Bakir bought the same car three times between them.
Mr Bakir was the first winner, paying $47,000 for the car before donating it back where it was sold again to Mr Abedian for around the same amount.

After buying the car, the Sunland boss donated it back to the charity, and promptly bought it back again, this time paying $90,000 and keeping it.
Mr Bakir said the Gold Coast had been good to him and his family and he wanted to repay the favour.
“We donated the car back because it’s a great cause,” Mr Bakir said. “It’s our duty to give back as much as we can.”
