20 Currumbin Surf Life Savers looking for gold in world championship
Some of the Gold Coast’s best lifesavers say they want to take out the world championships as they take on 133 of their colleagues from around the nation.

TWENTY Currumbin Beach Viking Surf Life Savers are hoping for gold as they compete against 133 clubs in the 2018 Lifesaving World Championships.
The team is made up of 10 females and 10 males who all excel in their own categories from beach relay to pool rescue.
Palm Beach local Brittany Brymer, 24, will be representing the club for the first time and she is hoping to win after taking home gold, silver and bronze for another club back in 2012.

“We want to to take out the World Championships this year,” she said.
“It really comes down to the team as together we need to get as many points as possible through a range of events.”
Mrs Brymer and her team have been training rigorously 10 times a week in preparation for the competition — but it won’t be stopping anytime soon.
“My biggest goal is to represent Australia. It’s pretty hard but it’s achievable,” she said.
“I’m so lucky to have access to such high level trainers and facilities.”
She as been a part of surf life saving for 17 years, since she was seven years-old.
Head coach of the team Kurt Wilson couldn’t be prouder and says it was an extremely exciting opportunity to showcase a team made up of both experienced and youths.

“We have a real opportunity to achieve podium performances across numerous events and we will be fighting hard for the Inter-club over all teams trophy,” he said.
The championships start tomorrow with five members from the club representing the Australia team.
