THE Gold Coast is inching closer to being coronavirus-free with just 15 people left to recover from active cases.
As of today there were 192 cases declared for the Gold Coast, 177 of which have already recovered from the potentially deadly virus.
The figures come as the state records another 24-hour period with no new cases.
As of this afternoon, 343 Gold Coasters are still subject to self quarantine notices, meaning they are unable to leave their home for a 14-day period.
“The numbers would have been hard to believe just a few weeks ago, when we were recording upwards of 50, 60, 70 cases each and every single day,” Health Minister Steven Miles said.
“If it weren’t for the success of our social distancing and our public health efforts, thousands of Queenslanders would have died by now.”
Of Queensland’s 84 remaining active cases, 11 are in hospital and six are in intensive care, four of them on ventilators.
