Defenders
It’s a strong-marking back six this week.
South Barwon’s Fraser Fort led the competition with seven intercept marks in the close loss to the Eagles, while Newtown & Chilwell’s Luke Maddock and Braden Hocking will also pick off plenty of opposing forward attacks.
St Joseph’s Alex Hickey had a great game against North Shore in the round 3 season opener and will offer great rebounding prowess from the back half, as will Bell Park’s Keegan Gray and Joey Jack Buckley.
Bell Park’s Stephen Bensted will come off the bench in the back line.
Midfielders
Grovedale’s Ryan Abbott dominated the tap work at the weekend despite the loss to Colac, so he will be the starting ruck.
His 65 hit outs and 15 disposals netted him a massive SuperCoach score.
Grovedale’s Nathan Deans and Bell Park’s Lachie Patten will be at his feet, as will Newtown & Chilwell’s Ned Harris after a strong performance in the close win over South Barwon.
The midfield trio all generated a large quantity of possessions, as well as clearances and contested possessions for their respective sides.
North Shore’s Noah Lever has been edged out of the starting centre, taking place on a wing opposite Colac’s Bailey Scott, with the Seagull unable to be ignored after 31 disposals against St Joseph’s.
Scott’s dominance continues this season, earning three Team of the Week nods to open the season. His SuperCoach score could have been greater if he had not given away seven free kicks.
Lara midfielder Connor Linehan-Cunningham will come off the bench and into the guts after collecting 10 clearances, while St Albans captain Jacob Russell will also be a member of the rotation.
Forwards
Key forwards Mitch Day and Sam Dobson will keep the spine really strong after kicking bags of five and six goals respectively.
Day could have had a massive game, but inaccuracy cost him, booting 5.4.
Grovedale’s Mitch Chafer earns selection again after booting four goals, while St Joseph’s forward pair Paddy De Grandi and Lewis Antonac both earned their selection in the season opener against North Shore.
South Barwon captain Matthew Caldow also dominated despite his team’s loss to Newtown & Chilwell, while new Dragon Willson Mack will come off the bench after booting four goals as Bell Park remains undefeated this season.
