Emergency services have been called to another bizarre scare on a Norlane street after an offender allegedly set fire to a sparkler and threw it at a property.
Detectives are investigating the incident, on Robin Ave, that required assistance from Fire Rescue Victoria and Ambulance Victoria on Monday morning.
It’s believed a hedge caught fire as a result.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said an unknown offender fled the scene and an investigation was underway.
“The hedge sustained minor damage and the fire is being treated as suspicious,” she said.
It follows a major incident on the same Norlane street in May that required the assistance of the bomb squad.
Investigators acting on a search warrant located a suspicious device in a bedroom of a Robin Ave home on May 28.
A male was arrested over the incident at the time, with one witness claiming he had been stripping the material off generic, store-bought sparklers and modifying cap gun ammo.
It was unclear what he was planning to do with the materials.
A bomb squad dog and robot was deployed to the scene alongside heavily protected officers, with sandbags piled on the lawn outside the Norlane home.
Residents said the house had attracted the attention of emergency services a number of times this year.
