Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a “dodgy” Norlane home overnight.
Firefighters were called to the weatherboard house on Camellia Crescent just after 5.30am on Thursday to find the building already engulfed in flames.
A Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) spokeswoman said said approximately 80 per cent of the building was involved in fire.
No one was inside the property at the time.
The spokeswoman said crews worked externally to extinguish the fire and conducted a primary search of the residence.
FRV had the fire under control by 6.20am.
The fire was deemed suspicious and the scene was then handed to Victoria Police.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said he wasn’t surprised by the fire at all.
“It’s a bit of a crack house, to be honest.” he said.
“There are people in and out of there all the time, but no cars.”
“The lights are on every night, it’s dodgy.”
Another resident said she hadn’t been sure if anyone lived there.
“I didn’t even wake up,” she said.
A police spokeswoman said the exact circumstances of the fire were yet to be determined.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
More to come.
