Police seized suspected explosive devices from a North Shore property after a bomb scare in Melbourne’s CBD on Wednesday.

Police have seized suspected explosive devices from a North Shore property after a bomb scare in Melbourne’s CBD on Wednesday.

Collins St in Melbourne was placed into lockdown about 12pm after a suspicious device was discovered near a white Volkswagen.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a firearm and drugs.

A 33-year-old Parkville man was arrested at the scene.

Officers from the Bomb Response Unit searched a North Shore home about 5:30pm as part of the investigation and seized a number of items, including suspected explosive devices.

The man has been charged with a string of offences including making and possessing an explosive substance, theft of a motor vehicle and trafficking a drug of dependence.

He was remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
