Police are continuing to hunt for a group youths involved in a wild brawl inside Westfield Geelong earlier this month.
It is believed up to eight youths were fighting in the food court on January 10 about 3pm before centre security stepped in.
The incident was caught on camera.
Sergeant Jacob Horvath said investigators were “closing in” on identifying the youths involved in the brawl.
“Anyone causing trouble inside our shopping centres is a concern to police,” he said.
“We have patrols to provide reassurance to the community and shop owners.”
Sergeant Horvath thanked the members of the community who came forward with “vital information” following the incident.
“Police won’t tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour … our investigation remains ongoing,” he said.
Shop employees and owners have said it was common for groups of youths to act disruptively at the food court, which was impacting their businesses.
“I have young staff members who won’t stay in the shop by themselves because they’re too scared of them,” she said.
Westfield Geelong did not directly responsd when asked by this masthead if it management concerned about rising crime in the centre or the impact the incidents had on store owners, employees and shoppers.
A spokesperson also refused to respond to specific questions about the brawl.
“The safety of our customers, business partners and people is our highest priority,” a Westfield Geelong spokesperson said.
“The incident you’re referring to is a matter for police.”
In December last year, police cracked down on anti-social behaviour at the shopping centre as part of a three day sting.
Anyone with information or footage of the brawl should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
