A new dessert bar is inviting locals to enjoy a taste of Greece without travelling to Europe.

The owners of a new dessert bar are hoping to give locals a taste of Greece in Geelong’s CBD.

LoukouMADNESS, on Little Malop Street, offers a selection of Greek desserts, including traditional doughnuts with a twist.

The dessert bar is the latest business venture by Milton Mavromoustakos and Julia Ryabova who own popular Greek restaurant Mavs, also in Little Malop Street, and takeaway shop Suva Bar in Grovedale.

“We are very passionate about bringing Greek culture and cuisine to Geelong,” Ms Ryabova said.

“We wanted to have separate shop just for our desserts.”

The venue offers loukoumades, small Greek doughnuts, served the traditional way - with honey, cinnamon and walnuts plus a variety of other flavours.

“We have black forest which has a dark chocolate sauce and cherries,” Ms Ryabova said.

“We also have a mocha flavour with a rich coffee sauce and chocolate powder ... perfect for coffee lovers.”

The dessert bar offers both dine in and takeaway, with alfresco seating outside the shopfront for customers.

The venue had a soft opening on Thursday last week and Ms Ryabova said many customers had come in to get an authentic sweet taste of Greece.

“It is the right time to open because there are still lots of tourists around and many people are coming back into the CBD for work,” she said.

“We’ve had lots of familiar faces from our other restaurants popping in too.”

The business is planning to host a grand opening within the next few weeks.

“We are inviting everyone to come down and enjoy authentic Greek desserts,” Mr Mavromoustakos said.
