A young Lara darts sensation is headed to a major competition in Europe next month after a “whirlwind” year.
Zac Tabb only picked up the sport at the start of this year and has quickly become an elite talent.
The 14-year-old, who has already competed in interstate competitions against adults, is now off to the World Masters in the Netherlands.
“It’s been really fun,” Zac said of his journey so far.
“The fact that I’m competing in the World Masters is pretty crazy.
“It’s really exciting for me.
“I’ll be practising a lot (to prepare).
“I love darts because there’s such a good social side.
“I can go down to the club and have some fun and play the game.”
Father Matt said what started as something fun to try has turned into a huge opportunity for Zac.
“It’s been a whirlwind,” Mr Tabb said.
“It’s absolutely awesome … my wife and I are so happy that Zac’s found his niche.
“We’re really proud of what he’s achieved, and what he’s going to in the future.
“There are so many opportunities that Zac can have now because of darts … he could go on and become one of the best in the darts fields, and that’s really exciting.”
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to fundraise for trip expenses.
Mr Tabb said going to Europe around Christmas was particularly expensive, and that every donation would be greatly appreciated.
