A customer has been left frustrated and “feeling unwell” after he received “undercooked” chicken from a local KFC venue on Monday night.
Michael Edwards said his family ordered $109 worth of “finger-licking good” chicken for dinner from KFC in Drysdale on UberEats.
The order included original recipe chicken pieces, popcorn chicken, a zinger burger, potato and gravy and chips.
When the order was delivered, Mr Edwards said his son realised two large servings of chips and popcorn chicken were missing.
“He then lifted the bag and four pieces of chicken slid out because the bag was so soggy and greasy,” he said.
“It slid out all over my couch.”
Mr Edwards called the store and spoke to the manager, who promptly delivered the missing items as well as six pieces of chicken.
“I ate the first bit of chicken and then with the second piece, I peeled the skin off and I noticed it was pink on the outside,” he said.
“I opened it up and it was pink.
“It was horrible.”
On Tuesday morning, Mr Edwards said he wasn’t feeling “too good”.
“I reckon I might have food poisoning, I haven’t felt well since last night,” he said.
“It started with missing items, then it all spilt on the couch and then the chicken was undercooked.
“I thought ‘enough is enough’.”
Mr Edwards has lodged a complaint with KFC and contacted the state Department of Health.
“I’ve asked for my money back,” he said.
“We’re pretty turned off KFC.
“It’s very dangerous to serve uncooked chicken ... it was two out of the three pieces that I had.”
As of Tuesday morning, Mr Edwards said there were eight pieces in his fridge that could potentially be undercooked as well.
A KFC spokeswomen apologised to the customer.
“We have reviewed the images of the chicken and can confirm it wasn’t undercooked but have given the customer a full refund,” the spokeswoman said.
The Drysdale venue opened on Murradoc Rd in April.
