A Geelong mum’s unprovoked rampage of assaults and other “appalling” behaviour has been outlined in court, including a random attack on an elderly man while he was sitting at a cafe.

Amber Dawkins, 35, who appeared via video link on remand, pleaded guilty to a number of vile assaults in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The most serious offending occurred in October this year when she assaulted three people before her arrest on Carr St, Geelong.

The court heard a man, 71, was “assaulted out of the blue” by Dawkins when she pushed him off a chair at the venue.

She also pleaded guilty to two other assaults during the bizarre offending spree.

Magistrate Simon Guthrie told the court the attack would have had “physical and psychological” impacts on the victims.

Before her arrest, the court heard Dawkins was trying to lick the face of a person and also asked about “licking a dog” near a gift and accessory shop.

Police found the woman “yelling and waving her arms” on Carr St before claiming she “was going to take her pants off.”

After refusing to comply with the arrest, officers used pepper spray.

The court also heard Dawkins spat on the shirt of a security guard after she was redirected to another shop.

She then continued to spit on the front counter.

Mr Guthrie described the behaviour as “appalling” and “disgusting”.

Dawkins, who has a 13-year-old daughter, also pleaded guilty to stealing 21 hats from a Geelong store in September this year, along with other breaches of personal safety orders.

Prosecuting lawyer Maille Cornelius said the community had been put at risk by the offending of Dawkins.

“This is a serious state of offending against members of the public,” she said.

The court heard Dawkins had a history of mental health problems and was involuntary admitted to the Swanston Centre psychiatric facility on four occasions.

She has been on remand for the past 61 days.

Her defence lawyer told the court his client would make a “fresh start” in North Melbourne if a sentence of time served was deemed suitable.

“What about her victims, do they get a fresh start?” Mr Guthrie asked.

He adjourned his sentencing to December 18.
