An empty heritage building on the corner of one of Geelong’s most prominent intersections is set to be transformed into an entertainment venue with a mini golf course.

Fore Fun Golf Club, set to open in April, will feature a mini golf course and serve a variety of food, with founder Mike Rahimi vowing to create something the city “can be proud of.”

The former Belmont High student said he was sick of driving to Melbourne for fun activities.

“Geelong deserves better … we have some great pubs and bars but we just don’t have the variety,” he said.

“Besides the Village Cinema what else do we have for entertainment?”

He said the mini golf course — the only one of its kind in the CBD — would cater to all audiences and meet the needs of families.

“It’s one of those activities that everyone can enjoy — you can take your kids, a date, or your mates,” he said.

“It’s versatile.”

The process of bringing the business to life has been almost 12 months in the making, with careful consideration being given to every aspect.

“Turning concept to reality took a lot of late nights and early mornings,” Mr Rahimi said.

“We’ve revitalised the heritage site, giving it a new heart and making sure every course elevates the space.

“We took our time to make sure everything was right and ensure its not just another venue that does mini golf.”

The building was previously home to Asian restaurant Golden Dragon Yum Cha for eight years.

Mr Rahimi said he “can’t wait” to open its doors.

“Every time I see a new piece all I can think about is the reaction when people see it for the first time,” he said.

“We wanted to give people something great, not just good enough, that they would be proud calling their own.”
