A heavy police presence remained at the scene well into Monday evening, with the road blocked off.

It is believed the incident occurred between Iona and Keats streets along Forster St.

It was a tragic day for the area in Geelong’s north.

Earlier in the day, a man was died after a horrific accident between a train and a truck.

The two fatalities occurred within a kilometre of each other, about six hours apart.

According to Victoria Police, e-scooter riders must be 16-year-old or older, wear a helmet and are not allowed to carry any passengers.

E-scooter riders can not exceed 20km/h.

The fatal crash brings the Victorian road toll to 279 lives lost, 47 higher than this time last year.
