Eight Geelong students receive top honours for VCE efforts

A Geelong student is the first in the city to receive a perfect score for VCE Japanese.

A Kardinia International College student is being celebrated as the first to receive a perfect VCE study score in Japanese studies in Greater Geelong.

Haruki Kitai-Gooi, who completed units three and four in language studies — Japanese second language last year while in year 11, received a study score of 50.

He was among eight Geelong students who were recently recognised at this year’s Premier’s VCE Awards.

The Geelong College’s Agnes Ambrose and Oberon High School’s Siddharth Shrivastava achieved study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE subjects.

They received Top All-Round VCE High Achiever awards.

Other students won awards for achieving the highest results in individual subjects in the state.

Ms Ambrose received a study award for legal studies, Olivia Hill from Christian College Geelong in art making and exhibiting, Henry Crutchfield from Geelong Grammar School in French, Merric Platt from Kardinia International College in furnishing (VCE/VET) and Alexander Aidt from Geelong High School in theatre studies.

Haruki said he was honoured and grateful to have achieved a high result.

“Currently, I am focusing on my year 12 studies this year, and I am determined to give my best effort to achieve results that I can be satisfied with,” he said.

The students received their Premier’s VCE awards at a ceremony at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
