A Geelong father and son were allegedly involved in an invasion of a Norlane home belonging to three men who police suspected were heavily involved with drugs.

In early March, Zachary Perry, 26, was arrested in connection to a suspected Belmont Dr home invasion. He appeared in the Geelong Magistrates Court on Friday to apply for bail.

His father, Scott Perry, 46, was arrested at his Corio address and was granted bail at an earlier date. Neither of the accused men have entered a plea.

On March 5, 2022, Scott and Zachary Perry, along with a third accused person yet to be interviewed by police, were allegedly seen on CCTV arriving at the Norlane address at about 5.30am and walking to the rear garden.

One of three alleged victims spotted an accused man and told him to “f**k off” when he realised what was happening. The three accused men, who were all allegedly holding property in their hands, left quickly.

At 7am on the same day, the three men returned to the house driving in a Ford Territory and again approached the rear of the property.

While one of the victims slept on a couch through the entire ordeal, another heard voices from the connecting garage and went to investigate. The three accused men allegedly took off again once they were caught.

Officers who were responding to the job saw the Ford Territory but were unable to intercept it due to the “erratic” driving.

A few days later, while attending an unrelated incident, officers saw Zachary Perry running into a house. They arrested him after retrieving him from the roof cavity — and he claimed that he had been given permission to enter the Norlane address.

Senior constable Mark Woodhead said the three alleged victims have an extensive criminal history and they suspect the home invasion was linked to drugs.

Zachary Perry’s defence lawyer said that “credibility is an issue” in this matter, given the prior drug history of the three alleged victims.

He will be assessed for a bail support program and will return to the Magistrates Court at a later date to learn if he has been successful.
