Guests on Movie World’s newest ride will come face to face with fellow thrill-seekers passing by on a next-door rollercoaster when it opens in time for the Easter school holidays.
Workers are currently putting the finishing touches to The Flash Speed Force, which is being built within the track of the Superman Escape Coaster at the Oxenford theme park.
Village Roadshow Theme Parks chief operating officer Bikash Randhawa said the ride would offer Movie World visitors something totally new.
“It’s the first time there’s been a ride within a ride,” he said. “It’s such a unique experience.
“When you’re riding it you’ll think a train is coming at you (from Superman), but it’s not.
“We hope to have it open for Easter next year. That’s the target and that’s exactly what we intend to do.”
The opening of the Flash will be followed next year by the unveiling of a new $40 million Wizard of Oz precinct, also a world first.
Featuring a 454 metre family-friendly roller coaster and a boomerang racer, it is expected to be open in time for the Christmas school holidays.
“For us it’s all about staying relevant, fresh, alive,” Mr Randhawa said.
“Towards the end of the year is Wizard of Oz, which will be something so special, so unique, and we as a company, we as team members are so excited to be part of this journey.”
The projects are part of a wave of investment in the city’s theme parks which has also included the opening of the New Atlantis precinct at Sea World, new water slides at Wet’n’Wild and $50 million worth of new attractions at Dreamworld.
Village Roadshow theme parks was also recently granted planning permission for a new hotel near the entrance to Movie World.
