“Freedom” protesters will again cause chaos in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Protesters from the Reignite Democracy Australia group vow to gather at Parliament steps on Spring St in Melbourne’s CBD from 6pm.

They will rally against the state of emergency extension.

They are the same group who have protested against the lockdown and vaccinations throughout 2020 and 2021.

The protest is likely to cause traffic and public transport disruptions in the area.

Victoria Police said they were “aware” of a planned protest in the Melbourne CBD on Tuesday evening.

“We respect the right people have to express their views and to protest peacefully and lawfully, as long as it is in accordance with the Chief Health Officer directions,” police spokesman Adam West said.

“There will be a police presence to ensure the safety of all involved and to ensure no breach of the peace or other offences occur.”

The planned marches follow a string of similar protests causing city-wide chaos and resulting in dozens of arrests.
