Anthony Zaki Habib, 63, fronted Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday, September 19, and sought an adjournment on his case to “save money for a lawyer”.

He is facing one charge of selling cigarettes in packets less than 20, and did not enter a plea.

Judge Carly Ingles adjourned the matter for six weeks, with Mr Habib set to return to court on October 30.

In 2020, Mr Habib was sentenced to nine months in prison – suspended after one month – after he pleaded guilty to 149 offences of selling alcohol out of his taxi.

He was busted selling booze at the back of Bojangles when it was shut due to Covid restrictions.
