Moderated by Sky News’ Matt Cunningham, the Solomon: Battleground Debate will see Labor MP Luke Gosling go head-to-head against CLP candidate Lisa Bayliss.

Sky News has announced the first debate in its exclusive 2025 Federal Election Battleground Debate series, airing today at 2.30pm ACST / 3pm AEST, live from Darwin.

Moderated by Sky News Darwin Bureau Chief and Northern Australia Correspondent Matt Cunningham, the Solomon: Battleground Debate will see Labor MP Luke Gosling go head-to-head against Country Liberal Party candidate Lisa Bayliss.

The hotly contested Darwin-based seat has been held by Labor’s Luke Gosling for three terms – but this election, it is one Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is hoping to win back for the first time since 2016 as he looks to capitalise on his policy to return the Port of Darwin to Australian hands.

“Solomon is shaping as a crucial seat in this election,” Mr Cunningham said.

“I’m looking forward to discussing a range of topics with the candidates including the cost of airfares and insurance, crime and the lease of the Port of Darwin.”
