A WOMAN has told police she saw “Lizard Man” Bronson Ellery violently attack Shelsea Schilling in his Southport apartment the afternoon both died.
The police breakthrough comes as they delve further into the potentially explosive and violent relationship between the couple.
It is believed Mr Ellery, 24, killed Ms Schilling, 20, on Friday afternoon before taking his own life. Police have confirmed officers found a note at the scene.
The witness, who came forward five days after the pair were found dead inside the Johnston St unit, said she saw the heavily-tattooed former Bandido bikie assault Ms Schilling moments before her death.

Police spoke to the witness for several hours at a Gold Coast station yesterday.
“Police believed she had relevant information and she spoke to police and answered questions,” the woman’s lawyer, Lisa Searing of Buckland Allen Criminal Lawyers said.
Ms Searing said the woman had only agreed to speak with police because she wanted the families of Ms Schilling and Mr Ellery to have “closure”.
Sources close to the investigation said Ms Schilling’s body showed signs of a head injury and asphyxiation. It is understood she also had a large gash to the side of her face. Police declined to comment on the injuries.
When asked about contact with police in recent weeks, Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd confirmed they had been in touch with Ms Schilling about a domestic violence order.
She first sought a protection order in September 2015. It was breached in November last year and was due to expire in November, 2017.

“I’m not aware of any contact with Ellery, albeit he had previous dealings with police,” Mr Codd said.
“Obviously police had contact with the domestic violence matter on the relationship with Ms Schilling.”
Police are reluctant to reveal the details of that contact because it could compromise their investigation.
“Their tumultuous relationship and indications of domestic violence in that relationship continues to be the focus of that investigation,” Mr Codd said.
ELLERY ADMITS TO STRONG-ARMING WITNESS
Mr Ellery served three months in jail late last year for breaching the DV order.
He was also jailed last year after pleading guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Sources close to the investigation said Ms Schilling was in frequent contact with domestic violence agencies in the weeks before her death.
“She was speaking with (them) the whole time,” the source said.
The man who found the bodies on Wednesday told the Bulletin they were lying side-by-side on the floor in the lounge.
‘THERE IS NO PULSE — THEY’RE GONE’
Nick Blandthorn said Ms Schilling had her arm draped across Mr Ellery’s stomach.
Police would not comment further on whether one or two other people were in Mr Ellery’s Southport unit the afternoon of the deaths.
“We don’t have any evidence to suggest there’s a third party involved in the deaths,” Mr Codd said.
He cautioned it would be inaccurate to report speculation about another party playing a role in the deaths.
Police are expecting to obtain a report from the pathologist tomorrow.
