POLICE are investigating shots that were fired at a car at a Gold Coast shopping centre overnight.
Shortly before 10pm a firearm was discharged into a Land Rover in Oxley Drive at the Biggera Waters shopping centre.
The driver and passenger, a 22-year-old woman and 38-year-old man, were not injured and contacted police after driving to an address on East Quay Drive.
The armed man, wearing a dark hoodie and balaclava, left the scene in a white Mercedes SUV before travelling north along Oxley Drive.
A short time later, police were then called to reports of a car fire on East Quay Drive and located the white Mercedes, believed to have been seen leaving the shooting incident.
A crime scene was established in the eastern side of the shopping centre food court carpark with detectives seeking to identify those responsible.
Several dents made by projectiles were later discovered in the Land Rover.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or have dash cam footage to contact police.
