COOMERA MAN FOUND DEAD ON BACK VERANDA
Mr Spencer’s flatmate Daniel McNally found Mr Spencer unresponsive at about 4am on Wednesday October 1.
Mr McNally said he saw a man wearing a balaclava on the back veranda standing above Mr Spencer holding a metal bar.
He tried desperately to revive his friend, but his head injuries were too severe.
Today dozens of SES volunteers and police will spend the entire day combing bushland around the Foxwell Road home for clues.
Mr Spencer was known to police for a string of offences but it appears the 37-year-old cleaned up his act and last faced court six years ago.
Police are remaining tight-lipped about the investigation as they continue to hunt for the killer.
Mr Spencer’s devastated parents Peter and Julie Spencer have travelled from the Nowra home to the be on the Coast as the investigation continues.
Last Friday the couple made an emotional plea for information, telling the media they wanted a resolution and to “take their boy home”.
SES are expected to be at the Foxwell Road home for most of today and possibly tomorrow.
