REBELS bikie gang members and associates are being rounded up across the Gold Coast as tensions run high following a shooting at Upper Coomera.

Investigations surrounding the shooting of Gokhan Turkyilmaz on Tuesday night are continuing.

Police believe it could be linked to a shooting at Loganholme last month, during which a Rebels member is thought to have shot a member of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang.

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima arrested Turkyilmaz’s brother, Emrah Turkyilmaz, 21, on Wednesday night for his alleged involvement in the Logan Hyperdome shooting.

Police allege Emrah Turkyilmaz used a “heavy metal item” to break the windscreen of a Mazda Tribune after the Logan shooting on February 4.

He was charged with affray and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Emrah Turkyilmaz was granted bail in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday with conditions including a curfew between 8pm and 6am.

The court was told police fear violent retribution against the bikies following the shooting.

They said they had seen social media messages that Emrah Turkyilmaz was “planning violent retribution against Bandidos OMCG members responsible for the shooting of his brother”.

When police picked up Emrah Turkyilmaz on Wednesday night he was allegedly found with pills and steroids.

He claims they were vitamins and peptides.

Emrah Turkyilmaz’s lawyer Lee Quinn, of Hannay Lawyers, said Turkyilmaz was contesting all of the charges.

Outside court, Mr Quinn said police had not provided evidence of the social media posts his client allegedly made.

The alleged Rebels associate was released from the Southport Watchhouse yesterday charged with affray and said he was happy to “flex for the cameras”.

When asked if he was a bikie, Kim replied: “No. Are you a bikie?”

Police are still hunting for the men who shot Gokhan Turkyilmaz on Tuesday night.

Turkyilmaz was shot eight times in the legs, groin and buttocks outside his Upper Coomera. The balaclava-wearing men also bashed him with a baseball bat.

The cage fighter underwent surgery in Gold Coast University Hospital on Wednesday and is in a stable condition.
