POLICE are on the hunt for teenage vandals who wreaked havoc on the quiet northern NSW town of Kingscliff with sweet potatoes last weekend.

The reckless teens are believed to have stolen the starchy vegetables from a nearby roadside stall before smashing and damaging several cars.

A woman who was visiting a relative at Salt Village had the rear windscreen of her car smashed while it was parked near the Peppers Salt Resort and Spa at Kingscliff.

Meanwhile, another resident was driving to Kingscliff when sweet potatoes were hurled at his car.

Both incidents have been reported to police, however there have been multiple reports from other locals saying they also witnessed the vandals, some saying they found sweet potatoes on their driveway.

“There is two incidents that have been reported between 5.30 and 8pm on Saturday,” Mr Cowan said.

“Two vehicles have been damaged in Casuarina Way and Salt, Kingscliff,” he said.

“An unknown person has thrown sweet potatoes at vehicles. One had their deck and rear door damaged and the other one has a smashed rear wind screen.”
