QUEENSLAND Police have revealed where 20 extra officers for the Gold Coast’s northern corridor will be stationed.
Of the extra officers 14 will be based at Coomera, while the other six will go to Nerang.
The announcement comes more than a month after Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll stated 44 new officers would be stationed around the city by June 2022.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said the decision by the commissioner added to more than 1000 officers already based on the Gold Coast.

“I have been a strong advocate for community safety and I thank the Queensland Police Service for this further deployment of personnel.”
A spike in crime throughout the northern Gold Coast has already seen a new police station set to be open in 2022, following months of lobbying by councillors and residents.
GOLD COAST POLICE BUDGET CRISIS
There have also been petitions for a police hub in Ormeau to relieve pressure on overworked Coomera officers.
Commissioner Carroll told a State estimates hearing in July the Gold Coast’s police numbers were “adequate” for the region.
“I have enough police officers on the Gold Coast in my view, organised crime is part of their duty on the Gold Coast,” she said at the time.
The new officers will be deployed by the end of the financial year.
