A Gold Coast man was taken into custody after he allegedly rammed a police car overnight.

Two police officers were driving near a roundabout in Southport at 2.35am Tuesday morning, when they were rammed from behind.

The pair of officers suffered from minor whiplash.

The police vehicle also reportedly received a number of scrapes.

The 30-year-old Southport man was taken into custody.

He is expected to be charged with one count of dangerous driving and is due to appear in court later today.
