POLICE divers are searching the Tweed River this morning looking for evidence in relation to the tragic death on a nine-month-old girl.
There are also be Water Police from Coffs Harbour and search specialist officers patrolling both sides of the river.
The father of the girl has been charged with her murder as court documents alleged he had thrown her into the Tweed River on Saturday night.
Her body washed up on Surfers Paradise beach on Monday at 12.34am.
Chief detective inspector Wayne Walpole said police were searching for a red and black chequered rug.

He said it was with the family of four, a 23-year-old mother, two-year-old son, 47-year-old father and baby before the girl was killed.
